About The Event

The Centre for Excellence in Responsible Business at the Schulich School of Business, York University is pleased to be hosting the 8th CSEAR North America Conference on June 28-29, 2022.

The Centre for Social and Environmental Accounting Research (CSEAR) is an international membership-based network that aims to mobilise accounting scholarship to enable a more sustainable society.

CSEAR aims to be a world-recognized, global community of scholars who engage with students, activists, practitioners, policy makers and other interested groups in order to generate and disseminate knowledge on social and environmental accounting and accountability. Our mission is to encourage and facilitate high quality, relevant research, teaching and external engagement with practice and policy through developing knowledge, expertise, resources and a supportive network for mentoring and career development.

8th CSEAR North America Conference

Similar to other CSEAR conferences, the 8th CSEAR North America Conference will be a deliberately informal gathering and discussion forum for researchers, teachers, students and practitioners concerned with social and environmental accounting, teaching and research in the very widest sense. Its emphasis is on a high level of interaction, discussion and debate in a friendly, supportive and relaxed atmosphere.

Attendees will include academics, practitioners and doctoral students at all levels of experience, and involved with all aspects of social, environmental, indigenous and sustainability theory and practice in accounting and other disciplines. As such, interdisciplinary submissions are encouraged, and both full and research-in-progress papers are welcomed.

There are plans to offer the possibility to join the in-person conference virtually for CSEAR members if physical attendance is not possible.  However, should the public health measures in place at the time of the conference not allow for an in-person gathering, the conference will not pivot to a virtual event and will be cancelled.  Participants are invited to take this into considerations when making their travel plans.  We suggest booking refundable accommodation and travel.
